Lt. Col. David A. Jacobson was an Eagle Driver and commander of the 433rd Fighter Weapons Squadron at Nellis AFB. On Decembet 6th, 1977 Lt. Col. David Jacobson was flying F-15B (75-0085) on an Air Combat Manovering training sortie over the ranges at Tonopah, NV when he crashed and was tragically killed.

Lt. Col. David A. Jacobson ( Jan. 11, 1934) was born in Rock Valley, Sioux County Iowa, son of Ruby Jacobsen and Emil Jacobsen.

Second Lieutenant David A. Jacobsen arrived home the first of last week after spending a year and a half with the Air Corps, in which he served with the radar branch at Waco and Houston. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Jacobsen.
He married Donna M. VerHoef of Rock Valley, Iowa and they had two children, Dana and Dan.

With an Air Force combat unit on deployment in the southeastern United States – Captain David A. Jacobsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Jacobsen of Rock Valley, Iowa, is among the Air Force personnel deployed to this area for combat ready alert duty in support of the President’s actions in the Cuban crisis. Captain Jacobsen, a pilot, is married to the former Donna M. VerHoef of Rock Valley. He has remained in a high state of readiness since he was ordered to this area from his permanent base.
In the early 1970’s, Major Jacobsen was assigned to the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing at Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base in Thailand where he became the Commander of the Wolf FACs flying the McDonnell Douglas F-4D, Phantom II.
On October 1, 1976, Lt. Col. David Jacobsen became the commander of the 433rd Fighter Weapons Squadron, 57th Fighter Weapons Wing, Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Lt. Col. David Jacobsen was survived by his wife, the former Donna VerHoef of Rock Valley, and two children, Dana and Dan of Las Vegas.
