Eagle History

The 59th Tactical Fighter Squadron was stationed at Eglin AFB, Florida. The 59th received it’s first F-15A/B’s in 1978.  The 59th TFS deployed to the Gulf during Operation Desert Shield. While based at Tabuk, Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm the 59th TFS “Proud Lions”scored to air to air kills. After the Operation Desert Storm the 59th FS deployed various times back to the Gulf during Operation Southern Watch. On December 12, 1997 the 59th FS stood down. And was later on reactivated as the 59th Test & Evaluation Squadron in November 2004, flight testing the F-15 at Nellis AFB.
