Capt Kirk Jones was an Eagle Driver, flying with the 493rd Fighter Squadron at RAF Lakenheath.

On 26 March 2001, during a low flying training exercise over the Scottish Highlands, two F-15Cs (86-0169, 86-0180) crashed near the summit of Ben Macdui in the Cairngorms. Both crews, Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth John Hyvonen and Captain Kirk Jones died in the accident

The late fighter pilot died in an aircraft accident in 2001 after taking off from RAF Lakenheath on a training mission. This was the first time Jones has seen his brother’s memorial.
