Lt. Col. Ken “Buster” Hyvonen was an Eagle Driver, flying with the 493rd Fighter Squadron at RAF Lakenheath.
On 26 March 2001, during a low flying training exercise over the Scottish Highlands, two F-15Cs (86-0169, 86-0180) crashed near the summit of Ben Macdui in the Cairngorms. Both crews, Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth John Hyvonen and Captain Kirk Jones died in the accident
