Boeing secures order more F-15EX fighters

Boeing has been awarded a $2.38 billion contract to build 22 additional F-15EX Eagle II fighters for the U.S. Air Force, expanding the fleet of the service’s newest fourth-generation multirole combat aircraft. The award increases the total number of F-15EX aircraft under contract to 120 jets, covering production Lots 1 through 7.

Strengthening U.S. Air Power

The latest contract underscores the Air Force’s continued confidence in the F-15EX program and its role in maintaining U.S. air superiority. Designed as the most advanced member of the Eagle family, the F-15EX combines proven fighter performance with modern avionics, digital mission systems, and exceptional weapons-carrying capacity.

Featuring a large-area touchscreen cockpit, open mission systems architecture, advanced electronic warfare capabilities, and one of the highest payload capacities of any fighter aircraft in operation, the F-15EX is designed to complement fifth-generation platforms while providing long-range strike and air defense capabilities.

“Boeing is committed to delivering this critically important aircraft to the U.S. Air Force, strengthening the nation’s ability to project power and meet evolving security challenges around the world,” said Christina Upah, Boeing Vice President and Program Manager for the F-15 program.

Production Continues to Accelerate

The contract follows Boeing’s recent delivery of F-15EX aircraft number 22, the first aircraft produced under the Lot 3 production award. Deliveries from Lot 3 will continue throughout the year as Boeing works closely with the U.S. Air Force to increase production efficiency and output.

Boeing is targeting a production rate of two aircraft per month, supporting the Air Force’s effort to rapidly field the Eagle II across operational squadrons and replace aging F-15C/D aircraft.

Looking Ahead

As global security challenges continue to evolve, the F-15EX is expected to play a key role in the Air Force’s force structure for decades to come. With 120 aircraft now under contract, the program continues to gain momentum, providing the service with a highly capable platform that offers long range, large payload capacity, and advanced combat systems at a time when demand for airpower remains high.

The growing Eagle II fleet will strengthen homeland defense, expeditionary operations, and integrated operations alongside fifth-generation aircraft such as the F-35A, ensuring the U.S. Air Force maintains a credible and flexible combat capability well into the future.
